Source: The Eagle, Bryan, TexasDec.迷你倉 11--Former longtime KBTX chief meteorologist Bob French recently filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, accusing his ex-employer of discriminating against him because of his age and a disability.French's Houston attorney, Charles Peckham, said the EEOC confirmed Friday that an inquiry into the claim is underway, which is standard procedure once a complaint is filed. The document includes a retaliation allegation against KBTX and its parent company, Atlanta-based Gray Television Group, Inc.The 59-year-old says in his complaint that he was forced to work extended hours during the 2012 holidays, while younger KBTX staff members were allowed time off. According to Peckham, the stressful work and hours caused French to seek medical treatment in Houston in mid-January under the Family and Medical Leave Act. French accuses KBTX general manager Mike Wright of reprimanding him after he returned from his medical leave in April.French was terminated on July 5, Peckham said.A comment released by KBTX states that the "KBTX family was disappointed to learn from other media outlets that our former colleague and friend Bob French" chose to file the charge."KBTX and Gray Television respect the privacy of the employment relationship, and迷你倉樂器accordingly, will not litigate matters related to Mr. French's employment in the press. KBTX, however, will defend itself vigorously against Mr. French's allegations and is confident that upon reviewing the record, the EEOC will conclude that Mr. French's allegations are utterly without merit."French, who worked for KBTX for 23 years, said in the complaint that after he was fired, the company replaced him with a forecaster who is "under 40."In August, KBTX named Shel Winkley as the chief meteorologist after he served as interim chief in the months following French's termination.Peckham said French waited to file the claim with the EEOC because he hoped the TV station would resolve the issue by hiring him back. The EEOC's federal investigator will have a minimum of six months to issue a finding in the case. To file an age discrimination lawsuit in court, an EEOC complaint has to be looked into by officials.Peckham said he will file additional claims for breach of contract and other complaints related to French's medical leave if the EEOC sides with French."The last thing he [French] wants to do is file a lawsuit," Peckham said Tuesday evening.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 The Eagle (Bryan, Texas) Visit The Eagle (Bryan, Texas) at .theeagle.com Distributed by MCT Information Services迷你倉西貢
