And BeMyGuest announces takeover of Indiescapes[SINGAPORE] Start-up activity in Singapore continues apace, with medical-device company Amaranth Medical reporting the successful closing of Series C funding, and online travel agency BeMyGuest announcing the acquisition of travel agency Indiescapes.迷你倉將軍澳Amaranth Medical, a spin-off company from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and a manufacturer of fully bioresorbable stents, has secured equity investment from Boston Scientific, a global medical devices manufacturer.The investment amount, while undisclosed, is "substantial", said Alex Koo, director of Phillip Private Equity and founding investor of Amaranth Medical."This latest round of investment will be used to advance the clinical development of our bioresorbable scaffold - the next-generation of coronary stents - and potentially create the world's thinnest bioresorbable polymer stent," he said.Bioresorbable stents are small mesh tubes inserted into the coronary arteries of heart patients to restore blood flow and which dissolve or are absorbed by the body in time.Last October, Amaranth snagged $20 million in Series B funding from DCP Management of Singapore, Bio*One Capital, Charter Life Sciences, Venstar Capital and Phillip Capital.Global research firm BCC Research has estimated that the global coronary stent market will reach US$10.6 billion by倉2016.Meanwhile, BeMyGuest, a website for both travellers and small, local and independent travel-related businesses across Asia, has acquired former competitor Indiescapes for an undisclosed sum.Both start-ups are based in Singapore. Indiescapes, a curated online marketplace that connected travellers seeking unique travel experiences across South- east Asia, has since had its content integrated with that of BeMyGuest.A BeMyGuest spokeswoman told The Business Times: "The acquisition will benefit consumers as it will consolidate all tours and activities under one brand (BeMyGuest) and therefore give consumers more options."She added that travellers seeking unique experiences beyond commercial tour packages can now enjoy options from more than 300 suppliers, including businesses and individuals, via the augmented BeMyGuest website.BeMyGuest founder Clement Wong said: "Indiescapes has done a great job collecting selective travel experiences, and we're very excited to incorporate these additional activities throughout Asia, providing our customers and partners with an even wider array of unique local travel content, while supporting local businesses."Last month, BeMyGuest announced that it had secured funding from South Korea's third-largest online travel market Tidesquare.
